The Libertyville Police Department is comprised of 48 sworn and non-sworn members who provide law enforcement services for a population of approximately 20,000 residents in Lake County.
The Pink Patch Project is a new initiative for the Department. It is an innovative public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease. The Pink Patch Program originated in 2013 when the Seal Beach Police Department in Southern California wore pink patches on their uniforms during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In 2015, the Irwindale Police Department in California continued the effort, and raised over $20,000. Soon after, over 25 local California agencies began participating. Today, the program has expanded to several hundred partner agencies throughout the world which includes police, sheriff, fire, EMS and federal departments.
During the month of October, Libertyville Police Officers will have the option to wear a pink uniform patch in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month. The Village is partnering with Advocate Condell’s Cancer Care Services to bring awareness to this cause. Please consider donating. As a thank you to those who donate you will receive a Pink Patch (Pink Patches subject to availability). There are two ways you can participate:
- Pink patches can be purchased for a minimum donation of $10.00 at the Libertyville Police Department, located at 200 East Cook Ave., Mon-Fri 7am-9 pm: OR
- Donations can be made online through this site. Bring your receipt to the Libertyville Police Department to get your Pink Patch
